Shad are still all over the banks in the early morning, as are the lakes gamefish. Spinnerbaits, traps, squarebills, and small swimbaits have been fooling bass up to 7.5 lbs. Blue catfish are also on the prowl, topped by a 19.51b beast caught and released by Jim McCann, visiting from Cape Cod, Mass. The big fish fell for a nightcrawler. Cut mackerel, and frozen chicken livers have also been producing kitties down in the White Oak area. Still a few big bluegill, and crappie showing on mini jigs and/or red worms around rocky outcroppings and docks.

Santa Margarita LakeBass fishing was very good early in the week, with almost all types of shad imitations getting bit. There were rumors of kmore than one dbl.digit fish being caught, though the marjority of the largies were in the 3-5lb. range.
