TROUT: Trout fishing at the South Shore Pond continued to be very good for many anglers this week. We had a report of a 10 pound trout landed at the pond, details unknown; but Ryan Brojkovieb, from Stockton, caught three 7 pound trout at the pond one day this week. He was fishing from shore, with a blue/silver Kastmaster, and managed to catch 3 whoppers in the same day.His buddy, Alejandro Correa, from Stockton, caught 4 beautiful trout weighing 10 pounds total for his 4 fish. He was also fishing from shore, with a silver Kastmaster.

Trout trollers in the main lake continue to find that the fish are still deep (25-40 feet), and scattered. One group of trollers reported catching 3 trout using Ex-Cel lures in silver/blue, and Rebel lures in silver/black, and they caught 4 more bass while trolling for trout. The trout they caught went to about 3 pounds, and the bass were about 2 ?? pounds All of their fish came from Hat Island and Little Hat Island to the dam. Fish were about 25 feet deep early in the morning, and down about 35 feet deep at mid-day.

We had one report of nice trout being caught upriver near the highway bridge. These men were drifting Power Bait/nightcrawler combinations down 25 feet deep in the river channel. They had one trout at about 2 ?? pounds, and a couple of others at 1 ??-2 pounds each.

This week's trout plant of 1,200 pounds of beautiful Mt. Lassen hatchery fish will be at the North Shore Launch Ramp.

BASS: The fall bass bite continues to be very good for some anglers. Local Dean Freeman caught a beautiful limit of bass one evening this week, while fishing with top water baits. He was fishing upriver at dusk, on rocky points, and landed a fine limit of Spotted Bass up to 2 ?? pounds.

Kim De Weese, Kim Luong, and Glen Lawrence, all from Sacramento, rented a boat from North Shore last week and went trolling near Hat Island. They caught 6 bass, up to 26 inches, and one 2 pound trout; all while trolling with a silver/black jointed Rapala lure. Their fish were caught from 10-15 feet deep, and all during the middle of the day.
