LAKE CONDITIONS: Lake Camanche's current elevation is 204.1 feet above sea level, a rise of .1 feet this week. There is currently no water flowing into Lake Camanche, and water is flowing out of Lake Camanche at 225 c.f.s. Lake Pardee will be letting water out of it's dam this week, and into Lake Camanche, so our water level here will stay steady, or will drop a small amount. The surface water temperature at the marina is 69 degrees.
LAKE CAMANCHE CLEAN-UP DAY SPECIAL EVENT: November 3, 2007 at 8 a.m. Camanche Recreation Company will co-sponsor a Lake Camanche clean-up day. Life jackets will be provided for any children working next to the water's edge. No pets or alcoholic beverages please.??
A barbecue sponsored by Camanche Recreation Company will be held at Camanche South Shore following the clean-up activities.??There will be door prizes at the barbecue, and an E.B.M.U.D. ranger-led program "The Future Starts Now" will be presented.??There is no charge for any of these activities. TROUT: Trout plants start this week! The first week's plant will be a total of 3,600 pounds of trout; with 1,200 pounds of trout at North Shore launch ramp, 1,200 pounds of trout at South Shore launch ramp, and 1,200 pounds of trout at the South Shore Pond. All of our trout come from Mt. Lassen trout hatchery, and all of our plants feature trout weighing one pound or larger.
With the onset of colder weather, and our 3,600 pound trout plant this week, look for anglers to start catching trout trolling near the dam, Hat Island, and Little Hat Island. Trout are still holding down around 30-35 feet deep, but can be caught using Rapala lures, Needlefish, Ex-Cels, and dodger/nightcrawler combinations. The fish planted at North and South marinas will slowly disperse to deeper water, and some will also head up the river.
Lake Pardee has been releasing water into Lake Camanche during the week, and this cold water inflow has been drawing some nice trout up the river. Drift or troll with nightcrawlers, lures, or Power Bait in the area of Arkansas Bend down to the highway bridge. Fish are holding down about 25 - 30 feet deep.
BASS: We continue to get reports of very good bass fishing this week. One camper at North Shore caught his limit of bass on Saturday while fishing in the Causeway area. He had fish up to 4 pounds, with another bigger one getting off his line right at the boat. He was using Brush Hogs in watermelon color, and caught most of his fish in about 15-20 feet of water. This gentleman also caught a 6 pound catfish on the same Brush Hog. He also witnessed another boat in the same area that caught a 6.7 pound bass.
Sam Cardwell, from Acampo, and his son Ken, caught 4 nice bass up to 3 ?? pounds while they were trolling for trout. They were trolling in the Dike 3 area, with Needlefish in Cop Car pattern, and also a jointed Rebel lure. Fish were holding down between 25-40 feet deep. Sam also caught a 6 ?? pound trout on the jointed Rebel lure in that same area a few weeks earlier.
