Some overnight showers have given way to partly cloudy skies and temps in the 70s. Look for warming trends this weekend and beyond with high clouds and gentle breezes, warm days and still cool in the evenings.
Once again a few fisherman around the Mud Hole and Porcupine Point the Launch Ramp and Stoney Point Landing this morning. The Marina reports bank fishing was slow during the week with word of a few Trout and crappie caught around the Recreation Area and the Woodpile. Red worms are the bait of choice for the crappie. White Power Bait, Chartreuse with sparkles, eggs with garlic, orange mouse tails along with night crawlers on a sliding sinker or a half full water bubble all continue to be effective combos thus far for Trout.
Heard of a few Kokanee caught by Trollers last week in the center of the Lake between Mistletoe and the River mouth. Saw a few boaters working the face of the dam and the River Mouth as well this morning. The word is those fish caught lately; Trout and Kokanee have begun to go deeper and are now at the 30 to 50 foot levels. Hoochies, (green and pink) along with the standard beaded spinners, Uncle Larry's pinkies and white/pink hoochies all behind a medium dodger are a good bet. No word of German Browns but it's not too late to find them at or near the Rock Wall, try broken back Rapalas, and gold or rainbow minnow. Red needle fish were hot recently just outside the Narrows so they are probably worth a try as well.
Presently Lake Level is 18-20 feet below capacity and has been fluctuating up or down depending upon rain fall and releases. The current water temperature is currently 52 degrees at 20 feet and 56 at the surface; clarity is good to 15 feet plus.
Lake Pardee Recreation has planted another 2000 lbs. this morning bringing the total to 16,000 pounds of fish to date.
