On Tuesday, January 28,2014 we planted 1,200 pounds of Mt. Lassen Rainbow Trout at the North Shore ramp. We are expecting another 1,200 pounds to be planted this week...600 pounds at the South Shore Trout Pond and 600 pounds at the South Shore ramp!
Weekly Weather
Rain is in the forecast this week at Lake Camanche! We can expect sunny, partially cloudy skies, during the first half of the week, but be sure to pack your umbrella before we get into the later half of the week. With a 40% chance of showers on Thursday, and a 30% chance for the weekend, we are doing our rain-dances and hoping that rain will fall down on us!
Low Water Levels Means Awesome Kayaking!
Lake Camanche is currently 51% full. This lower water level means that we are starting to see remnants of the history that exists below the lake. While there are no structures, we are beginning to see the foundation of old county roads, pieces of historic bridges, and even a little bit of the old Penn Mine! You are welcome to come to Lake Camanche and check these foundations out for yourself! Did you know that we have kayaks and paddleboards available for rent? Right now when you rent one kayak you'll get a second rental free! Check out the special offer we've included at the bottom of this email for more details!
FISHING NEWS
This past week was another terrific week for trout fishing! Anglers who were looking to fish from the banks had the best luck at the South Shore Trout Pond and the North Shore Day Use Point. Bank anglers are currently catching fish using powerbaits, various types of lures, and jigs. Rapala Lures and Kastmasters seem to be especially popular baits right now. Fishermen who prefer to fish from a boat found that the best bite was in the upriver section of the lake this past week (The Narrows). Boat anglers are currently having the best luck trolling with grubs or fishing with good old fashioned nightcrawlers!
