It was another spectacular week of fishing for Lake Camanche anglers! Trout season has been consistently good since we began planting trout in October. For those of you wondering about the trout plants... we will continue to plant all the
way through April so you still have a few months of good trout fishing left! We are very happy to see that our anglers are starting to bring in other species of fish too, including bass, catfish, and even the occasional crappie. This past week we saw some big trout as well as a nice sized catfish come in off the lake. While we don't have any photos of bass to share with you this week, we have heard that they ARE out there and that they have been biting!
The top spot for trout angling this past week was the South Shore Trout Pond. The pond was planted on Friday which made for a great fishing weekend. Pond anglers are finding powerbaits and jigs to be the best bait for the pond! The most popular spot for boat anglers who wanted to catch trout this past week was Little Hat Island. The best bait to use was a good old-fashioned grub. Most anglers are trolling with down riggers just below the surface and 3-inch white grubs seem to be doing the trick.
Trout Plant Update
We Planted 1,800 pounds of Mt. Rainbow Trout this past Friday, January 24, 2014. A total of 600 pounds were planted in the pond, and 1,200 pounds were planted at the South Shore ramp. We are expecting another 1,200 pounds to be planted at the North Shore ramp early this week!
Weekly weather: Hallelujah there is finally a chance to rain in the forecast! This week we can expect to see partially cloudy skies and high temperatures in mid 60's. There is a 20% chance of rain on Wednesday and a 30 % chance of rain on Thursday. Keep your fingers crossed and be sure to do a rain-dance, the lake could really use a rain storm!
LAKE CONDITIONS
Elevation: Lake Camanche is currently 204.40 ft. above sea level.
Temperature: Water temperature at the launch ramps is approximately 53 degrees.
Lake Level: Lake Camanche is currently 52% full.
Flow: The inflow from Lake Pardee is currently at 11 c.s.f and the outflow from Lake Camanche is currently at 254 c.s.f
