The big fish bite has been slower as they have spread though out the lake. Guide Dick Nichols, of Dick's Fishing Charters says that on his last 11 trips out his clients have caught 172 fish to 3 1/2 pounds. He has been fishing the island area with great early morning hook ups. Nichols, using Trout Busters, with a tip of crawler, behind weighted Mountain Flashers has been scoring in 21 to 36 feet of water.

"Most trollers I have seen on the lake are doing well", Nichols said. Other good locations are Tunnel Creek, Stevenson Creek and near road 1 point. The big fish weighed in this past week have been by Barry Leak of Visalia with a 11 pound 15 ounce lunker, caught with a Wedding Ring near the island. 12 year old Dakota Massey, of Madera hauled in a 6 pound 6 ounce bow near Tunnel while dropping Power Bait from an anchored boat. Bank fishermen have reported fair to good success with limits possible. They have been using Power Bait in orange or yellow, Gulp! or crawlers. 80,000 kokanee fingerlings were planted last week.

The surface water temperature has climbed to 67 degrees and the lake dropped to 69% capacity where it should remain until Fall.
