Steady trout plants in the Upper Kern by DFWL over the last 8 weeks has helped the action here. The water temps have dropped slightly, and the fish are sluggish. However, as the water temps warm in afternoon the bite improves. Anglers are scoring fish with salmon eggs, crickets, spinners, and pinched crawlers. Fly anglers have had solid action with nymphs and dry/dropper above Fairview. The Lower Kern Largemouth and smallmouth bass bite is fair to good with soft plastics and small crankbaits. At the time of reporting the Upper Kern River was flowing at 380 CFS and the Lower Kern River was flowing at 378 CFS.
