LAKE CONDITIONS

Lake Camanche's current elevation is 203.64 feet above sea level, a rise of .16 feet this week. There is currently no water flowing into Lake Camanche, and water is flowing out of Lake Camanche at 255c.f.s. The surface water temperature at the marina has risen to 60 degrees.

ATTENTION ALL BOATERS

Due to the growing presence of the invasive Zebra and Quagga mussel in California, we will be conducting mandatory boater interviews and, in some cases, vessel inspections prior to entry. In order to speed up this process, we ask that your vessel's water reservoirs (live wells and bilges) be dry and that the boat hull be clean. We do not anticipate that these procedures will take more than five minutes per vessel but we do strongly encourage you to arrive early to make sure you get on the water as early as possible. Please note: EBMUD has advised Lake Camanche that vessels from Santa Clara and San Benito Counties, Southern California, and outside of California will not be allowed on Lake Camanche.

TROUT

Trollers reported that Rapala lures were still the favorite bait this week, but anglers using orange grubs, Needlefish, and Ex-Cels in silver/blue were catching fish also. The warmer water temperatures and bright days have driven the fish down a little deeper than a few weeks ago, but very big fish are still being caught on the surface early or late in the day. During the middle of the day you need to get your lures down 20-25 feet deep.

The big trout of the week was caught at the South Shore Pond by Brian Skelly He was fishing with a chartreuse rattletrap lure when he landed this huge trout.

Brad Seibel, from Galt, caught a monster trout right on the surface of the lake on Sunday morning while trolling with a jointed Rapala lure. He had his Rapala out at least 250 feet behind his boat when he hooked, then landed this 10.4 pound rainbow.

Dennis Baird, from Sacramento, caught a beautiful trout on Thursday while he was trolling. He had a Rapala in silver/black on his line when he landed his whopper at 10.3 pounds.

Justin Rhone was trolling near South Shore marina with a Rapala lure and caught 4 fine trout which averaged about 3.5 pounds each.

This week's trout plant of beautiful Mt. Lassen hatchery fish will be 600 pounds in South Shore Pond, 600 pounds at South Shore launch ramp, and 1,200 pounds at North Shore launch ramp. As always, 10% of these fish will be trophy trout from 3 pounds on up.

Get ready for our Annual Charity Trout Derby. This year it runs from April 25-May 25, and is being sponsored by Yum's Troutkrilla trout bait. One $5.00 entry ticket qualifies you at each of these 5 lakes. Lake Camanche, Lake Chabot, San Pablo Reservoir, Los Vaqueros Reservoir, and Diamond Valley Lake. All proceeds go to the Iraq & Afghanistan Veterans of America. Prizes include trips, tackle, cash, tickets to sporting events and much more! Tickets will be available at both marina stores, and both entry gates.

BASS

We would like to thank the Nor-Cal Bass Motherlode Division for holding their Pro-Am event here at Lake Camanche on Saturday. We congratulate the team of Joe Reyes and Art Romero for their wining weight of 14.32 pounds. We also congratulate Jeff Frey for his big fish at 4.24 pounds. Fish were caught from 5-35 feet deep, and were caught on plastics, jigs, crankbaits and drop shot worms.
