LAKE CONDITIONS

Lake Camanche's current elevation is 202.6 feet above sea level, a drop of .2 feet this week. There is currently no water flowing into Lake Camanche, and water is flowing out of Lake Camanche at 225c.f.s. The surface water temperature at the marina has risen to 57 degrees.

ATTENTION ALL BOATERS

Due to the growing presence of the invasive Zebra and Quagga mussel in California, we will be conducting mandatory boater interviews and, in some cases, vessel inspections prior to entry. In order to speed up this process, we ask that your vessel's water reservoirs (live wells and bilges) be dry and that the boat hull be clean. We do not anticipate that these procedures will take more than five minutes per vessel but we do strongly encourage you to arrive early to make sure you get on the water as early as possible. Please note: EBMUD has advised Lake Camanche that vessels from Santa Clara and San Benito Counties, Southern California, and outside of California will not be allowed on Lake Camanche.

TROUT

Continued bright sunny days and warmer water conditions have made the trout bite a little tougher this week at Lake Camanche. Fish that were being caught on, or near the surface are now holding down about 20 feet or so. The big fish of the week was caught by Tony Lee, from Chico. He was trolling near the South Shore launch ramp when he caught his big 14 pound trout on a jointed Rapala lure.

2 men reported catching 2 limits of trout near the dam on Wednesday. They were using Sep's scented grubs in red color, and caught fish near the surface early in the morning and deeper during the day. They had fish up to 3 pounds.

Another group of men reported catching 5 fish between them while fishing in the Narrows. They were trolling about 15 feet deep with Rapala lures in silver/black and gold/black, and had a big fish of 7 pounds.

This week's trout plant of 1,200 pounds of beautiful Mt. Lassen hatchery trout will be split between South Shore Pond (600 pounds), and South Shore launch ramp (600 pounds). As always, 10% of the load will be trophy trout of 3 pounds and up.

Get ready for our Annual Charity Trout Derby. This year it runs from April 25-May 25, and is being sponsored by Yum's Troutkrilla trout bait. One $5.00 entry ticket qualifies you at each of these 5 lakes. Lake Camanche, Lake Chabot, San Pablo Reservoir, Los Vaqueros Reservoir, and Diamond Valley Lake. All proceeds go to the Iraq & Afghanistan Veterans Assoc. of America. Prizes include trips, tackle, cash, tickets to sporting events and much more! Tickets will be available at both marina stores, and both entry gates.

BASS

We would like to thank the Anglers Choice Cal-Foothills Pro Team for holding their bass tournament here at Lake Camanche last Sunday. They had 18 boats go out, and caught 17 limits of bass. We congratulate the wining team of Jason Kincanon and Dan Ramos for their wining weight of 15.92 pounds, and we also congratulate Eric Parra for his big fish caught at 5.76 pounds. Eric said he caught his big fish on a brown/purple jig. Jigs, Senko worms, and deep diving crankbaits were all mentioned as being successful.

CATFISH

Tom Schuster, from Valley Springs, reported catching 4 very nice catfish up to 10 pounds, as well as a 4 pound trout last Saturday. He was fishing in the South Shore harbor with minnows for bait.
