Warming water temps have the lakes game fish active once more, as all species went on the chew last week. Reactions baits were taking bass to 6 lbs. all over the lake. No top water action as of yet, but should develop with some stable temps. Crappie action has been fair on jigs, and tubes tipped with a meal worm. Best locales have been the docks in the White Oak area. Some nice bluegill have been coming in on red Worms, the best areas have been shallow cobble stone points. Blue cats to 14 lbs. also showing on cut mackerel around rocky outcroppings.

Santa Margarita LakeWater temps dipped up to 8 degrees in some areas, slowing the hot reaction bite for bass down to a crawl. That didn't matter for those who fished 'crawlers, or better yet live shad. Ed Conway of San Luis Obispo was at it again, using shad to enjoy his "best day of fishing ever". Santa Margarita LakeIt was another good week of fishing, despite the recent cold front earlier in the week. The bass bite still good on reaction baits early, jigs, and drop shot getting bit later in the day. There were several big blue catfish checked in at the marina, the largest tipped the scales at 14.5Ibs. Cut mackerel, and packaged doughbaits were the hot baits for the kitties.
