The small cold front that came through last week had slowed the action some, but by the end of the week the largies went on the chew. Spinnerbaits, chatterbaits, square bills, swimjigs, and everything in between all caught fish. The crappie showed for those targeting them on rocky outcroppings throughout the lake. Mini jigs tipped with either a mealworm or crappie nibble was top bait choice. The catfish population is alive and well for anyone targeting them. Best locations are shallow points and coves, and down in the river around the Vaca flat area. Cut mackerel and nightcrawlersaccounted for the majority of the kitties.
