TROUT: We had no reports from trout anglers this week, but trout continue to hold down about 35 feet deep. Trollers using Needlefish, Ex-Cel lures, R-Lures, or Apex lures in silver/blue, red/gold, silver/red, or shad colors typically can pick up some trout near Hat Island and the dam.

There have several reports of nice trout up to 5 pounds being caught upriver in the last 2 weeks, from the highway bridge up to Arkansas Band. Lake Pardee has been letting some cold water out of their dam into Lake Camanche, and this cold water inflow has been drawing some trout up the river. Fish in that area are holding down 25-30 feet deep, and fishermen drifting Power Bait, nightcrawlers, or a combination of both have been catching some nice trout.

E.B.M.U.D. has announced that the Hypolimnetic Oxygen System has now been turned on at the dam. This system (also known as the Speece Cone) adds oxygen to the water to raise the oxygen rate in Camanche in late summer. This raised oxygen level draws fish of all species to the area of the dam, making the dam and the buoy line a great area to fish.

BASS: Camanche regular Bruce Jennings, from Daly City, and his friend John caught several nice bass up to 3 pounds this week. They were fishing underwater structure and drop-offs in the main lake, using plastic worms in green and brown. Their fish were holding down 20-25 feet, in areas that dropped off to deeper water.

Ted Beardsley, from Campo Seco, reported catching 7 bass this week up to 3 1/2 pounds. He was fishing upriver near the highway bridge, and caught many of his fish early in the morning using top water baits like poppers. His fish came from shallow water early in the day, and from deeper water on plastics in green pumpkin and brown later in the day.

CATFISH: Camanche regular Bruce Jennings, from Daly City, caught 5 nice catfish on Thursday. All of his fish were in the 4-5 pound range, and were caught upriver in rocky areas in about 15-20 feet of water. He was using mackerel for bait, and all of his fish came during the daytime.
