TROUT: Two men from Fremont reported catching 4 nice trout, up to 3 pounds, while trolling near Hat Island. They were using downriggers set between 30-40 feet, and caught fish on Apex lures in blue/silver, and also Cripp lures in red/gold and silver/blue. They were on the lake at first light, and caught all of their fish before 11 a.m.
Dike 3 was productive for 3 men from Lodi this week. They were anchored in 40 feet of water, and caught 5 nice trout, up to 2 ?? pounds, while fishing with Power Eggs. They were fishing early in the day on Wednesday, and caught their fish on, or near the bottom.
Overnighters fishing near the dam continue to catch trout this week. Local resident Bob Bacon reported catching 2 limits of trout, up to 4 pounds, while anchored in about 40 feet of water. He was using Power Bait/nightcrawler combinations, and caught most of his fish in the evening before midnight.
Lake Pardee continues to let some water into Camanche during the week, so trout are being caught from the highway bridge up to Arkansas Bend. Drift or troll with bait or lures, down about 30-35 feet deep in these areas, with the chance of hooking into trout up to 5 pounds.
E.B.M.U.D. has announced that the Hypolimnetic Oxygen System has now been turned on at the dam. This system (also known as the Speece Cone) adds oxygen to the water to raise the oxygen rate in Camanche in late summer. This raised oxygen level draws fish of all species to the area of the dam, making the dam and the buoy line a great area to fish.
BASS: One angler from Roseville reported catching 5 bass, up to 3 pounds, while drop-shotting with Robo Worms in purple, and also natural shad colors. He was fishing the rocky faces in the Narrows, under the highway bridge, and the rocky points outside of Oregon Gulch. He said his fish came about 20 feet deep, and he caught all of his fish in the morning.
CATFISH:Campers at the fish cleaning station on Sunday reported catching 3 fine catfish, up to 6 pounds, while fishing overnight. They were using mackerel, and chicken liver, and caught their catfish in rocky areas in Rabitt Creek and the Causeway.
