COMMENT: Recently The Stockton Record newspaper ran an article incorrectly stating that the boat launch ramps at North and South Shore were not in operation. This was not correct, they meant to say that the ramps were in operation; so we would like to assure everyone that both of our Marinas and launch ramps are fully open, with no restrictions. We apologize for any confusion that this may have caused. Thank you, from the staff at Lake Camanche.

LAKE CONDITIONS: Lake Camanche's current elevation is 205.2 feet above sea level, a drop of .3 feet this week. The lake should drop slowly this week.??There is currently no water flowing into Lake Camanche, and water is flowing out of Lake Camanche at 345 c.f.s.??The surface water temperature at the marina has cooled to 77 degrees.

TROUT:Trout trollers continue to find fish when they get on the lake early in the morning, or late in the day. The area in front of the buoy line at the dam, and the triangle from Hat Island to Little Hat Island to the dam is the favorite trolling pattern. Needlefish, R-Lures, Ex-Cels, and Uncle Larry's spinners are some of the top lures to use. Trout are down between 35-45 feet deep.

Camanche regulars Tim and Kathleen Medley, from Grass Valley, rented a pontoon boat from North Shore on Friday. They just wanted a day of relaxation on the boat, but decided to drift some Power Bait our near the dam. They caught a beautiful 3 ?? pound fighting rainbow trout, put it in the ice chest, and decided that that was enough work for the day. They spent the rest of the day relaxing with their friends.
B Several nice trout have been caught up the river this week. Lake Pardee has been letting some water out of their dam, which puts cold water into Camanche. Trollers or bait drifters have been catching trout above the highway bridge, up to Arkansas Bend. Fish are down between 30-40 feet deep.

E.B.M.U.D. has announced that the Hypolimnetic Oxygen System has now been turned on at the dam. This system (also known as the Speece Cone) adds oxygen to the water to raise the oxygen rate in Camanche in late summer. This raised oxygen level draws fish of all species to the area of the dam, making the dam and the buoy line a great area to fish.

BASS: Local Tom Purdom, from Acampo, caught a beautiful 5.4 pound bass this week. He was fishing upriver, in about 15 feet of water. He caught his fish on a Keeper 82 worm, in red/green flake. He was dragging his worm in a rocky area when the 23 inch bass took his worm.

A gentleman from South San Francisco caught a fine limit of bass this week while fishing in, and around South Shore Harbor. He was fishing top water baits early in the morning, and was using spinnerbaits in chartreuse/white, as well as crankbaits in shad colors during the day. He had fish up to 3 pounds, and said most of his fish came in about 15 feet of water.

CATFISH:The catfish bite continues to be red hot for many anglers. Locals Dean Wade, Truman Moss, and Jim Rudolph went out several times this week and had great success. On Monday they had 10 catfish, up to 7 pounds. On Tuesday they caught 6 catfish, up to 5 pounds. On Thursday they had another 6 catfish, up to 8 pounds. They love to fish upriver, with mackerel or chicken liver, in rocky areas. Most of their fish came in 20-30 feet of water.
