COMMENT: Last week The Stockton Record newspaper ran an article incorrectly stating that the boat launch ramps at North and South Shore were not in operation. This was not correct, they meant to say that the ramps were in operation; so we would like to assure everyone that both of our Marinas and launch ramps are fully open, with no restrictions. We apologize for any confusion that this may have caused. Thank you, from the staff at Lake Camanche.

LAKE CONDITIONS: Lake Camanche's current elevation is 205.2 feet above sea level, a drop of .7 feet this week. The lake should drop slowly this week.??There is currently no water flowing into Lake Camanche, and water is flowing out of Lake Camanche at 344 c.f.s.??The surface water temperature at the marina has cooled to 77 degrees. The Secchi reading for water clarity is down to 15 feet.

TROUT: Camanche regular Dino Radotic, from Lodi, reports catching his limit of trout while fishing near the dam this week. He caught his fish between 30-45 feet deep, and was using Power Bait. Most of his fish were in 2 ?? pound range.

Local fisherwoman, the Amador Dangler, reported that overnight fishing near Dike 3 was very good on Thursday night. She, and her best fishing buddy, caught a fine limit of trout, up to 3 pounds. They were anchored in about 40 feet of water, and caught all of their fish on Power Bait and Power Eggs. They were fishing their bait right on, or near the bottom.

A few reports of trout being caught up the river have come in this week. Lake Pardee has started releasing some water into Camanche, and the cold water release draws trout to the river channel. Anglers drifting Power Bait or nightcrawlers from Arkansas Bend down to the highway bridge are finding trout down 30-35 feet deep.

E.B.M.U.D. has announced that the Hypolimnetic Oxygen System has now been turned on at the dam. This system (also known as the Speece Cone) adds oxygen to the water to raise the oxygen rate in Camanche in late summer. This raised oxygen level draws fish of all species to the area of the dam, making the dam and the buoy line a great area to fish.

BASS: Bass fishermen continue to catch bass this week, near rocky points, submerged island tops, and trees and brush sticking up from the water. Plastic worms in brown, purple, smoke, and green pumpkin are always good choices. The rocky faces in The Narrows, China Gulch, and under the highway bridge have all been productive.

The rocky areas in The Causeway, and Dikes 5 and 6 were very good to 3 gentlemen from Manteca this week. They caught bass on top water baits early in the morning, and during the day caught about 8 more bass up to 3 ?? pounds while fishing with Baby Brush Hogs in green pumpkin and watermelon colors. They said fish were 15-20 feet deep.

The rock pile areas near Lancha Plana are also holding a lot of nice bass. The rocky points, or rocky drop-offs, are a favorite area, and the same plastic worms, spinners, and also crankbaits in crawdad or shad colors work well.

CATFISH:The catfish bite continues to be very good, with campers at North Shore reporting catfish up to 8 pounds, caught in rocky areas at Rabbit Creek and The Causeway. Mackerel, anchovies, and Power Bait catfish bait in blood or liver are all catching fish. Fish in the rocky areas, in 10-15 feet of water, and let the catfish run with your bait before setting your hook.

A South Shore camper, in River View campground, reported catching 2 nice catfish, both about 5 pounds. He was fishing with nightcrawlers, in a rocky area, and caught his fish in the evening before dark. He said his fish were caught in about 10 feet of water.
