TROUT: There was only one report from trout trollers this week, but they had pretty good luck on Wednesday morning. 2 gentlemen from Roseville started at first light, and caught 7 trout, up to 3 ?? pounds. They were trolling along the front of the buoys at the dam, with Uncle Larry's spinners in pink/gold. All fish were caught between 35-45 feet deep, and all fish came before noon.

Overnight fishing at Dike 3 continues to be red hot for those who anchor in about 35-45 feet of water. Local resident Bob Bacon caught 2 fine limits of trout at Dike 3 on Monday night. He caught 5 fish before 10 p.m., when the moon came up. They caught the rest through the evening, and a couple the next morning. Bob likes to use a Power Bait/nightcrawler combination.

E.B.M.U.D. has announced that the Hypolimnetic Oxygen System has now been turned on at the dam. This system (also known as the Speece Cone) adds oxygen to the water to raise the oxygen rate in Camanche in late summer. This raised oxygen level draws fish of all species to the area of the dam, making the dam and the buoy line a great area to fish.

BASS: The bass bite continues to be very good for many anglers this week. Luis Vasquez, from San Leandro, won a free pontoon boat rental in our annual trout derby this year. He reported catching and releasing 12 fine Largemouth and Spotted bass last Saturday. All the bass came on plastic worms, up the river, and his large bass for the day was a whopping 7.6 pounds. Thanks Luis, for supporting our trout derby, and congratulations for catching such great bass.

Camanche regular Dick Klauber, from Oakhurst, was out here last Tuesday and had a great time bass fishing. He and his partner caught a total of 9 bass, with his big bass at 7.5 pounds and another at 3.75 pounds. He was fishing with Senko worms, off rocky points and rock piles, and most of his fish came from about 15-20 feet deep.

Local resident Dick Duquette had a fine morning of bass fishing on Sunday morning. He caught 4 bass, up to 3 pounds, and was off the water before 11 a.m. He was using brown plastic worms, and brown tube baits. He was fishing up river, along rocky banks, points, and rock piles.

CATFISH:Tom Purdom, from Acampo, had a great night of catfishing on Tuesday night. He caught 9 catfish, between 4 and 12 pounds, and also caught 2 bass from 18-20 inches. He was fishing near The Narrows, with chicken liver, and also nightcrawlers. Most of his fish came in about 15 feet of water.

Local residents Truman Moss and Jim Rudolph continue to catch lots of catfish this week. They came in with 7 or 8 catfish on Tuesday, with all of them from 4-9 pounds. They like to fish upriver, with mackerel, in 15-20 feet of water.

We encourage all anglers to report their stories, comments, or concerns to either North Shore Store, South Shore Store, or to us by email.
