This week's fishing netted some Doozies! 11 yr. old Austin Correia from College City brought up a 6 lb. 4 oz. Bass using a Sinko worm. Austin's Dad told me that Austin recently fished with some Bass Pros in a kid's tournament, and it sure sounds like he was "paying attention"!! One of the Biggest Catfish I've heard caught this year was hooked by Herman of Napa. His monster Cat weighed in at 12 lb. 4 oz. and could not resist the minnow Herman used to bait him.......
Eirik Nelson used Nightcrawlers to entice his 2 lb. Largemouth Bass just off the marina dock. Amanda of Sacramento brought in a 5 lb. 8 oz. Catfish also using a minnow near the dam. Taylor Atwood hooked onto a 3 lb. 4 oz. Rainbow Trout trolling a Needlefish by the dam. The dock is a favorite spot for the kids to fish, especially for Bluegill since they can actually see them in the water. Sabrina Apodoca caught a Bluegill off the dock on worms and Samantha of San Lorenzo caught her Crappie using crawdads.
The Goddard & Seachrist families from Southern Calif. joined the Yabut Family from Sacramento for their Annual Collins Lake Campout and when their kids weren't wakeboarding they were fishing. They call themselves "The Dream Team" but they definitely were wide awake because they caught tons of Trout. On their last day Bryan, Angel, and Jeremy caught 2 Bass. A few Dream Team members are Lance, Kevin, Joe, Will, Bryan, Jeremy, Angel, & Brett who have been fishing Collins Lake since they were fingerlings!!
The weather appears to be cooling off this week, especially the evenings when last night if dropped to 58 degrees. It's still in the low 90's during the day and the surface temperature is 80 degrees.
