Fishing continues to be awesome for catchable trout at Shaver Lake.

Multiple limits are the norm for experienced fishermen. Troller's are bagging fish at 23 to 45 feet deep near the island, Black Rock, The Point and Eagle Point.
Dick Nichols, of Dick's Fishing Charters had charters through the Labor day weekend and put his clients on limits for all including 23 for 4 anglers on Friday. Fishing with Trout Busters, tipped with a crawler, behind a Mountain Flasher at 23 feet deep and down riggers with Trout Busters and crawler at 44 feet did the trick. A good crowd on the lake for Labor Day Weekend did not cause any problems for troller's. Bank fishermen experienced a hit or miss weekend, with some collecting limits on rainbow, yellow and lime green Power Bait. The best locations were road's 1 and 2, The Point, near Sierra Marina and the Dorabella Cove area. Boat fishermen anchored and dipping Power Bait or crawlers are having some success near the bottom and near structures, especially in the Tunnel Creek area. A few trophy sized trout were reported caught from the boats this week. However, the trophy trout have been few and far as they hang close to the bottom structures and in areas where troller's with down riggers have a hard time getting to. The surface water temperature continues at 70 degrees even though it is much cooler now at Shaver. The lakes level has dropped to 60% capacity. The Edison ramp is out of water, but can be used to launch for smaller craft. The Sierra Marina ramp is in good shape and easy to launch. Check the web cam at sierramarina.com for up to the minute views of the launch there. Both Sierra and Shaver Marinas will be open into later October and maybe longer to serve boaters for the good Fall fishing that is anticipated.
Huntington and Courtright continue to provide anglers with good catches of rainbows. Huntington is fair to good on kokanee using Captain Jack's pink and orange Super Hoochies behind Shaver Lake Dodgers and C.J.Dodgers at 50 foot deep. The trout at Courtright are hitting on Thomas Bouyant's, Speedy Shiners and Trout Busters with a tip of crawler at 20 to 30 feet deep.
