The Upper Kern was stocked this week in Sections 4 and 5. Anglers have been scoring trout with salmon eggs, spinners, and trout jigs. The easy access points along the 20-mile stretch have been the best locations to find the stockers. In the Lower Kern, the CDFW stocked trout last week in all three sections throughout the canyon; Section 1, Lower Richbar to Democrat Beach; Section 2, Democrat Beach to Sandy Flat; and Section 3, Sandy Flat to Isabella Dam. Trout have been coming on salmon eggs, pinched crawlers, garlic doused Powerbait and minijigs. The Lower Kern River bass bite is improving with small crankbaits, jigs and spinners. Catfish can be found on dip baits, nightcrawlers and cut baits. At the time of reporting, the Upper Kern River was flowing at 805 CFS and the Lower Kern River was flowing at 302 CFS.
