Here in the Upper Kern, there have been consecutive stocks by CDFW. The easy access points have been the best bet. Anglers are scoring fish with slow retrieves on salmon eggs, trout jigs and crickets. Fly anglers have been successful with nymphs early in the day and blue winged olives during the later hatches. The Upper Kern River was stocked this week in the following sections: Section 4, Powerhouse #3 to Riverside Park in Kernville; Section 5. The Lower Kern River bass bite is fair on crankbaits, jigs and spinners. Catfish can be found on dip baits, nightcrawlers and cut baits. One local angler caught an 8 pound catfish this week here in the Lower Kern. At the time of reporting, the Upper Kern River was flowing at 329 CFS and the Lower Kern River was flowing at 413 CFS.
