In the Upper Kern, trout have been stocked every week throughout June. The flows are ideal for fishing. Campers and anglers have lined the shores from Kernville to Johnsondale Bridge. There were multiple reports of anglers scoring limits from various sections of the Upper Kern. Trout have been coming on salmon eggs, trout jigs and spinners. Fly anglers are using attractor nymphs, streamers, and dry flies in the late afternoon hatches. In the Lower Kern trout can be caught with split-shotted salmon eggs, floating baits and trout jigs. The smallmouth and largemouth bass bite is solid throughout the canyon with jigs, worms, and small crankbaits. Catfish can be fooled with Dip Baits and cutbait. At the time of reporting, the Upper Kern River is flowing at 709 CFS and the Lower Kern River is flowing at 2397 CFS.
