Clear blue skies: It's been excellent weather all week again, a little warmer than last week but still very pleasant with temps in the mid 80's. Some wind throughout the week but usually mild breezes prevail. Thankfully evenings and early mornings are remaining cool. The Lake level has stabilized at approximately 5 feet below spill. Water at surface measured 66 degrees and 62 at the 20 foot mark. Clarity is good to 13 feet.

Trolling: Productive areas have remained the same and more Trollers have been on the Lake lately. Another good size German Brown was taken this week. Sounds like the bite has improved over last week, limits still aren't quick but more fish are taking the bait. The good locations remain unchanged, the River Mouth, Rock Wall and all along the River Arm up to Indian Rock with the Dam and the Narrows as alternates. Small beaded lures in reds, tiger and greens along with Hoochies keep turning up in reports from Trollers. Hoochie colors are fluorescent reds, greens and pink. Some boaters are tying up to the dam, still fishing and doing quite well.

Bank Fishing: Continued activity behind the EBMUD boat house, planted fish tend to gravitate and hold up in this area until they acclimatize themselves to the new surroundings before heading out to the Lake proper. Bank fishermen are doing their best to change the new arrivals plans. The high water level has made the hike to the water line shorter and the shade structures much closer to the action. Power bait balls and night crawlers get the nod from the more successful bank anglers. Hanging from a surface bobber or floating up from the bottom on a sliding sinker, both are working well. Chartreuse, white and rainbow are the preferred power bait colors.

Recent Success Stories: Ryan Sackett of Elk Grove got this nice3.39 Bass using A Big Daddy Bait. Lloyd Hall got another German Brown (6.3 lbs) trolling up the River Arm near Cave Gulch (no picture available).

Secret Tip: I was informed the carp have been spawning all around the banks of the Recreation Area, so watch for the catfish to find and feed on the eggs soon, stand by with those stinky chicken livers!

The Next Upcoming Event: The Annual Lake Kids Tank Derby is this Saturday June 7th from 9 a.m. till noon. There will be prizes awarded in a variety of categories for boys and girls by age to 15 years. No license or fish permit required, all equipment and bait provided. Immediately afterwards a hot dog lunch will be available for $3.00. There will be an $8.00 day use fee to enter the park. Come join us for a great family event and help introduce kids to the great sport of fishing!

Trout Plants: As of today The Department of fish and Game has planted 3000 lbs, Pardee Lake has planted 36,600 lbs with more plants scheduled.

WIND: High winds for most of the week ending Saturday, look for some clouds. Daytime temps in the mid 70s low 80, evenings and early mornings are still cool. The Lake level will slowly fill to capacity some time in July before any further releases. Level looks to be about 12 feet below spill and slowly rising. The water was too choppy to do an accurate clarity measurement today. Trolling: Very windy again today on the Lake. There were...... Read More
