Clear blue skies: It's been excellent weather all week. Mid 70's forecast for the weekend with temps creeping up Tuesday or Wednesday, evenings and early mornings are still cool. The Lake level is rising steadily about a foot or so a day and will continue until July. Level looks to be about 6 feet below spill and slowly rising. Water at surface measured 66 degrees and 62 at the 20 foot mark. Clarity is good to 13 feet.

Trolling: Winds have subsided finally allowing Trollers to get back on the Lake. The Face of the dam has been good lately. I can't recall another year with as many German Browns caught. Sounds like the rising water has affected the bite adversely, it's been a bit off since the lake began to rise. Boats are bringing back nice fish but not as many limits as earlier in the season. The River Mouth and the Arm up as far as Indian Rock are still the most popular destinations with the Dam and the Narrows as alternates. Hoochies keep turning up in reports from Trollers, fluorescent reds, greens and pink.

Bank Fishing: The "Mud Hole" is no more, the rising Lake water has all but turned this area back to the peaceful lagoon it usually is. You may have to change your favorite fishing spot. You can't access the areas you once could right at water level but the deepest center section is still accessible by casting from the bank South of Rainbow Point across and behind the EBMUD boathouse. Power bait balls and night crawlers get the nod from the more successful bank anglers. Hanging from a surface bobber or floating up from the bottom on a sliding sinker, both are working well. Chartreuse, white and rainbow are the preferred power bait colors.

Recent Success Stories: Sam Perri of Sacramento used a hoochie to outwit this 7.49lb Rainbow in front of the Dam. Cordell Meidinger of Lodi got this 6.62lb German Brown pulling an Uncle Larry's across the face of the Dam. Mike and Jake Nichols landed this 6.53lb Bow cruising through the Narrows also with a hoochie.

The Next Upcoming Event: The Annual Lake Kids Tank Derby scheduled for June 7th from 9 a.m. till noon. There will be prizes awarded in a variety of categories for boys and girls by age to 15 years. No license or fish permit required, all equipment and bait provided. Immediately afterwards a hot dog lunch will be available for $3.00. There will be an $8.00 day use fee to enter the park. Come join us for a great family event and help introduce kids to the great sport of fishing!

Trout Plants: As of today The Department of fish and Game has planted 3000 lbs, Pardee Lake has planted 34,600 lbs with more plants scheduled.

The water was too choppy to do an accurate clarity measurement today. Trolling: Very windy again today on the Lake. There were...... Read More
