WIND: High winds for most of the week ending Saturday, look for some clouds. Daytime temps in the mid 70s low 80, evenings and early mornings are still cool. The Lake level will slowly fill to capacity some time in July before any further releases. Level looks to be about 12 feet below spill and slowly rising. The water was too choppy to do an accurate clarity measurement today.
Trolling: Very windy again today on the Lake. There were only four boat trailers in the entire parking lot this afternoon, that should change soon, according to the weather reports the wind is supposed to subside by the weekend. The area most successful before this wind is probably the best place to start out, the River Arm between the Face of the Dam and Indian Rock. Fish have dropped a little deeper lately, depths for downriggers are running 20 to 50 feet. Small lures in red, pink and fire tiger patterns, Hoochies, Sep's, Midge Wobblers, Wedding Rings, Uncle Larry's copper pops, and Mad Irishman lures are all working. Tip everything with scented shoe peg corn and end with 3/0 watermelon, lime or blue/silver dodger.
Bank Fishing: Not a bank angler in sight, the entire Recreation Area is deserted, this wind has kept everyone at home. Please come back, some of the staff are starting to talk to themselves! The "Mud Hole" is starting to look bigger now that the lake is filling again, plants may linger a bit longer. Power bait balls and worms get the nod from the more successful bank anglers. Hanging from a surface bobber or floating up from the bottom on a sliding sinker, both are working well. Chartreuse, white and rainbow are the preferred power bait colors.
Recent Success Stories: The Mike Carrington Memorial Family Fun Derby held last weekend was another resounding success. The weather and food was excellent, registrations, boat inspections and launchings were all accomplished without a hitch. The turnout this year was outstanding, over 200 participants. Thanks to all those organizations and individuals that worked so hard to make this event such a great time for all. Thanks to Pardee Lake Recreation Inc and Staff, CIFFI (Project Kokanee), and all sponsors, vendors, participants and Volunteers. For all Derby results please visit www.kokanee.org. Congratulations to all-well done!
The Next Upcoming Event: The Annual Lake Kids Tank Derby scheduled for June 7th from 9 a.m. till noon. There will be prizes awarded in a variety of categories for boys and girls by age to 15 years. No license or fish permit required, all equipment and bait provided. Immediately afterwards a hot dog lunch will be available for $3.00. There will be an $8.00 day use fee to enter the park. Come join us for a great family event and help introduce kids to the great sport of fishing!
