LAKE CONDITIONS: Lake Camanche's current elevation is 202.96 feet above sea level, a drop of .48 feet this week. There is currently no water flowing into Lake Camanche, and water is flowing out of Lake Camanche at 225c.f.s. The surface water temperature at the marina has cooled to 54 degrees.??The surface water temp. at North Harbor remains at 61 degrees.
TROUT: Our surface water temperature has now dropped to 54 degrees here at the marina, and trout trollers are finding fish right on the surface; especially early and late in the day. Start trolling right outside the marina harbor, and head west for either Hat Island and the dam, or head east through The Narrows and up the river.
One group of trollers on Saturday reported catching 11 fine trout, with a big fish at 6 pounds. They were trolling right on the surface with fire tiger colored grubs, with a white Power Egg for a head. They were fishing from Hat Island to the dam, and caught most of their fish right along the buoy line at the dam. Another group of trollers reported catching 9 trout, up to 5 pounds, while trolling from South Shore harbor, along Dikes 1 and 2, and around Little Hat Island. They were trolling right on the surface, with jointed Rapala lures in fire tiger, and gold/black colors.
Camanche regular Bruce Jennings, from Daly City, caught 3 fine trout last Monday morning while trolling in the main lake along the river channel. Bruce was using a Rapala lure, in the perch pattern, and caught all of his fish right on the surface. The big trout for the week was caught by a bass fisherman on Saturday; a 12 pound trout caught on a swim bait.
This week's trout plant of 1,200 pounds of beautiful Mt. Lassen hatchery fish will be at North Shore launch ramp.
BASS: We would like to thank two bass clubs for holding their tournaments here at Lake Camanche on Saturday. The Sacramento Bass Trackers had 6 boats go out, and we congratulate the team of Scott Norton and Steve Lewis for their winning weight of 12 pounds for their 5 fish limit. They also had the big fish at 2.85 pounds. Scott said that spinnerbaits and jigs, fished early and shallow, were the key to their victory.
The Elk Grove Bass club had 15 boats go out, and one member reported catching his limit of bass early in the morning with swim baits and jigs, fishing in submerged trees. He said his fish were all about 25-30 feet deep. Another member reported catching his limit of bass in about 18 feet of water, mostly on green plastic worms. The biggest fish of the week was caught by one of these bass club fishermen; unfortunately it was a 12 pound trout, caught on a swim bait.
We encourage all anglers to report their stories, comments, or concerns to either North Shore Store, South Shore Store, or to us by email at eporray@camancherecreation.com. Thanks again for choosing Lake Camanche for your recreation destination.
