Trout Fishing
Use the sliding sinker rig and night crawlers or powerbait works good also. Using a lure is also working well right now fish with a fire-tiger kast-master or rapala J-7.

Catfishing
Fishing for catfish is best by the boat launch. There is a lot of catfish that seem to be hungry. Many catfish are being caught by trout fishermen. To increase chance of catching a catfish use stinky bait like chicken livers or anchovies.

Bass Fishing

The bite is still on for the bass fishermen. Top spots are the Rock wall, Sather Canyon and near the Main Rec. Throw shad colored spinner baits or drop shot robo worms.

Fish Tales Bianca Silk of Burlingame caught her limit of trout the largest weighing 5.7 lbs using powerbait on Sunday 5-31-15.

Brian Yee one of our regulars caught his limit on Monday 6-1-15 fishing the main rec on Monday 5-1-15.

James Stoker of San Rafeal also one our regulars caught 3 trout one of them weighing 3.9 lbs his first Whopper of the year while trolling on Tuesday 6-2-15.

Brian Yee caught his limit of trout for the second day in a row while fishing the main rec on Tuesday 6-2-15.

Erik and Glenn of San Rafeal and Novato caught 6 trout the largest weighing 4 lbs fishing at Sandy point using power-bait on Friday 6-5-15.

Saifin Saechao caught a 10.69 lb trout while fishing at the pines on Friday 6-5-15.

Lou Saechao of Richmond caught a 10.32 lb trout while fishing at the pines on Saturday 6-6-15. Using power-bait.

Derby The Main Rec is holds a monthly trout derby. The largest three trout weight in for that month get prizes. It $5 to enter the derby. You must buy your ticket before fishing that day.

Park information

The San Pablo Reservoir Recreation Area is now open for the season with the hours during June being 6:00 am to 8:00 pm and boats need to be off the water by 7:00 pm. The Boat Launch area is open 7 days a week with snacks, drinks and tackle available. The Café is also open 6 days of the week from 9:00 - 3:30 so visitors can get some delicious food.
