Hey guys Danny McElroy here and have spent quite some time at Clearlake this past couple of months.. Big bass are still on beds and most of the big ones I have found were on dock pilings hiding in the shade.. If I saw a bed I would throw my bait at it and look for movement as it was shady and water clarity made it difficult to see fish.. Spent most of my time up north and have been able to manage a limit strictly on bed fishing. I was using a 2/0 straight shank Gamakastu hook on a dropshot shaking a Zoom baby fluke ( white).. I was averaging 15-28lbs on the beds during practice and tournaments, it all depended on finding clear water and good conditions..
Now there are a lot of post spawn fish, empty beds and huge schools of 3-4″ bass.. Fry everywhere and lethargic bass make for a tough bite. I hear guys using topwater, glide baits, Senkos, and jigs.. Just remember keep your eyes open while your out there because you never know when you’re going to run into a huge angry bass..

We ran up lake and started fishing top water River 2 Sea Whopper Plopper and Rover looking for fish. We worked in and out of main lake pockets, coves and points with not even a look from a dink. I was graphing plenty of fish in the 12-18ft....... Read More
Don Pedro Reservoir Fish Report
Don Pedro ReservoirDon Pedro fishing report for May. Fishing has been up and down this past month. Most of the fish are off beds now and starting to school up on shad. Shad are pushing up shallow in the backs of the creeks to spawn. Look for busting fish early in the morning and hit them with topwater or fluke style baits. There is a limited amount of time before the shad finish and move back into the channel so get out...... Read More
