This past last week was an awesome week for fishing at Lake Camanche!
Trout, bass and even crappie were all hot . The water is a little bit higher after the rains and warmer at 54 degrees. Sunshine and calm water had lots of anglers out on the lake. Most were trolling but a few were bank fishing.
Popular spots for trout were the Narrows, Hat Island, the dam and day use.
Bass were caught at the Narrows and up river in smaller shallow coves like China Gulch.
Crappie were pulled in around the North shore marina, up river, out by the dam as well as Houseboat Cove.
Trout baits reported were spoons, night-crawlers, silver chartreuse rapala, silver rapala, rapala firetiger lures, garlic power bait & silver rebels.
Bass baits reported were wacky worms, swimbait, senko and as one angler put... he "threw the whole box at them".
Crappie anglers were using crappie jigs.
Lake Conditions
Lake Camanche's current elevation is 185.30 as of 2/18/15. Water temperature at the launch ramp is approximately 54 degrees and the lake is 31% full. The inflow from Lake Pardee is currently 537 c.s.f. and the outflow from Lake Camanche is currently 226 c.s.f. The flow into Camanche varies from 11 cfs to 800 cfs. as EBMUD generates electricity from Pardee's flow. At this time they turn on two of the three generating units periodically during the week. Each unit can deliver 400 cfs, thus the 11-800 cfs range.
