Salmon fishing on the Sacramento river from Anderson balls ferry downstream near chico has been spotty at best with some days better salmon scores than others. Hard working anglers can expect 2 or more salmon a day with some days higher scores of 4 or more. Back bouncing sardine wrapped kwikfish lures in the morning and switching over to roe and a quickie puff ball in the mid morning and afternoon have been the best bets . Salmon have been averaging 18 to 26lbs with larger fish weighing in at 30 to 40lbs some salmon are older and darker than others yet there are still new fresh salmon moving upstream every day. Current releases to the sacramento river have dropped to 7,500 cfs With no scheduled changes. Fall salmon fishing will continue through October and will change over to the late fall run in November and early December.
