FISHING CONDITIONS
What a difference the rain did in week! Water level came up about a foot this from last week. Fishing for trout and catfish has shown a lot of improvement. We did receive a trout plant of 1,200 lbs. on December 18th from Mt. Lassen. Catfishing is still doing fairly well, we have had more than a few big catfish get pulled out the last several week. Water temperature is starting to come down. Currenty, water temperature is around the mid 50's with 5 feet visibility near the middle of the lake. The water level of the lake remains extremely low, with plenty of shoreline due to a lack of rain this season.

TROUT PLANT!
Trout fishing is starting to pick up here at Lake Chabot. On December 18, 2014 we planted 1,200 lbs. of rainbow near the marina. We are stocking the lake on a weekly basis and hopefully this rain will cool the water temperature making trout fishing a lot better. Trolling Rapala have landed several big trout but currently fishing from the shoreline from the burner on to Alder point have been doing fairly well with power bait. The bait to use right now when fishing on the shoreline is chartreuse and rainbow Powerbait with Garlic sent. When trolling, make sure to let out about a hundred feet of line and let the motor do all the work but also be wary of other anglers on the shoreline so your lines don't get caught! We will continue trout plants later on this year when the water temperature cools back down.

CATFISH
Catfishing is still great this time of the year. Limits and whoppers are still being reported getting caught throughout the week by Ken Kruse fishing near the sticks and behind the island. Water temperature will determine how active catfishing will be. This time of the year catfish are going to be located by Raccoon point, behind the island, in coves by the dam and in bass cove. Anglers are using a variety of baits including mackerel, anchovies and chicken liver.

BASS
Overall, Bass fishing is starting to slow down a little. A couple reports of bass were reported getting caught by the Burner and Coots Landing but not of good size. If you are fishing for bass, they are biting mostly in the early mornings and in the evenings, mostly on plastics, jigs and hula grubs and top water here and there. Silver Rainbow Flukes and Watermelon Senkos are also doing really well with 3/0 wide shank hook. Live wells can be provided upon request thanks to Walton's Pond. A couple good spots to fish for bass are; near the island or the tulles by Raccoon Point. Please practice catch and release for bass, as they are not stocked into the lake and their population depends on you!
