Forecast is predicting century mark temperatures for the weekend and to mid-week. Expect gentle breezes and the possibility of some high clouds. Pardee Lake water level is presently at 89% capacity (within 8 foot of spill) with ALL launch ramp facilities and Park services available.
If there were any anglers in the Recreation Area this morning they were in full camo and face paint 'cause I didn't see them. The Woodpile continues to be the best bet lately; some anglers do well there early in the morning before it really heats up. Power Bait, chartreuse with sparkles, eggs with garlic, orange and pink mouse tails along with night crawlers on a sliding sinker or a half full water bubble all continue to be effective combos thus far for Trout.
Trolling continues to be good in the coves upriver. Mixed limits of Trout and Kokanee are still being caught in these areas but it's taking longer and fish are on the move day to day and keeping to deeper water. Twin Coves, Columbia and Deer Island have been active with the larger Kokanee congregating there. Trolling has been a bit slower in the main body of the Lake but Trollers have begun picking up some larger Rainbows along the intake buoy line in the Southern end. Fish have remained at the same depths as last report, 60 to 90 foot levels seeking cooler surroundings. Tying off in upstream coves and bait fishing for Trout remains popular. Trollers are using Hoochies, (green and pink) along with the standard beaded spinners, Uncle Larry's pinkies and white/pink hoochies, all behind medium size silver and gold dodgers. Apex and Sling Blades are getting the nod as well for Kokes. Those Trout caught lately have been partial to needle fish, primarily reds and tiger patterns.
Bass fishermen have been doing well lately in the coves and rocky points all along the eastern banks and upstream. Red and darker plastic worms swim baits and large night crawlers all working well.
Continued good catfishing in the warmer cove areas from Mel's all the way down to Rattlesnake and upstream as well. Power bait, night crawlers, stinky chicken livers and Vienna sausage are all popular with our whiskered friends.
Lake Level is currently at 89% of capacity and holding. Water temperature is currently 66 degrees at 20 feet and 68 at the surface; clarity is good to 15 feet plus.
Lake Pardee Recreation has planted a total of 22,000 pounds of fish for the season so far.
