Holy Guacamole!! This week there were three gigantic fish caught,
starting with *_Ken Borello's 20 lb. 4 oz. CATFISH!! _*He caught it on
anchovies at night and brought it in for his photo when our store opened
up. His netter was his good buddy Vern Harms, both of them are from
Grass Valley. Our lake record on Catfish is 24 pounds!
On the 6th of May *_Mike Hage from Sonoma hooked his 9 lb. 8 oz. trout
_*on a worm while he was trolling only 10? down over the channel. Then
came*_ Thomas Brown_* who was also trolling down 10? in Elmer's Cove and
he caught a trout as well that weighed*_ 7 lb. 12 oz._*
Patrick Farley from Discovery Bay was in a boat but drifting PowerBait
and he and his fishing partner caught 9 trout total. Seth & Ryan from
Concord found two nice Bass on the eastside, they used a smoky shad
river worm. Steve Dalton caught three trout, his big one was 3 lb. 12
oz. and he fished from shore in the Open Area on PowerBait.
Congrats to Aislinn Gamble who caught her 1st fish ever (actually 2
trout) on a crawdad lure from the beach. 1st fish honors also go out to
Victoria Lacalle who landed a beautifull Bluegill.
Victoria Fong caught her two rainbow trout in front of her campsite
using PowerBait. Linda Larue said she threw everything at them, and
didn't stop until she caught her limit of trout. Her two biggest were 3
lbs. and 2 lbs.
Michelle & Brandon Moen from Rough & Ready trolled with flies and hooked 6 trout and 2 Bass, their treasured trout weighed in at 3 pounds! Luis & Jr. Garcia fished on the east side with worms and caught two Cats and a Bass! Ricardo Gomez and father Jovani brought Ania & Victoria fishing and their stringer had two nice Cats, a Trout, and a Bluegill. Ricardo said they were using worms for bait.
Mark Zaski, Dave Zaski and Manon also caught Catfish this week on anchovies up towards the bridge , their two biggest were 7-1/2 lbs. and 5-3/4 lbs. Ricky Bender caught his 2 lb. 8 oz. trout on rainbow PowerBait by his campsite.
Bob Boyer & Pete Henderson hooked a limit of trout each while trolling flashers and nightcrawlers right down the middle of the lake. Another double limit of trout taken in the very same manner went to Maggie & Frank Bradley from Santa Rosa on Wednesday the 7th.

Collins LakeTomorrow is the annual CIFFI Derby and it's not too late to sign up! This week's trout plants included the release of two of our net pens, along with a double private plant. Our trout planting momentum is building steadily and will continue to do so as long as the weather allows. Once the surface temperature reaches over 60 degrees the planting will stop and the trout will go down to their deeper and cooler environment.
