Tomorrow is the annual CIFFI Derby and it's not too late to sign up!
This week's trout plants included the release of two of our net pens,
along with a double private plant. Our trout planting momentum is
building steadily and will continue to do so as long as the weather
allows. Once the surface temperature reaches over 60 degrees the
planting will stop and the trout will go down to their deeper and cooler
environment.
Right now the trout fishing is extremely good from the shore or trolling shallow from your boat. They seem to be using PowerBait as the #1 enticement but falling a close second is nightcrawlers.
John Moyer from Petaluma caught his trout from his boat while trolling a flasher with a nightcrawler along the east side of the lake. His biggest was a 3 lb. 12 oz. Rainbow trout! Caedmon Lougheed from So. California was also trolling when he hooked into a 3 lb. 8 oz. trout.
*_D.J. Barnes caught the whopper this week, his 4 lb. 8 oz. trout was caught on PowerBait while drifting in a boat below the power lines going up towards the bridge._*
Kim Battenfeld from Grass Valley fished from shore by the dam and caught a nice 2 lb. Rainbow of PowerBait. Shore fisherman R.J. Gamble fished closer to the beach and caught a bass and a 2 lb. 8 oz. trout on PowerBait.
Richard Rowland's 3 fish stringer of trout included a 2 lb. 8 oz. Rainbow as his personal best! Richard was trolling in the middle of the lake but not deep using Rapala lures.
Justin & his sister Emma fished in front of their campsite and caught two trout on rainbow PowerBait, the biggest one was 2 lb. 8 oz. Chris Hazen & Danny Fitlin caught 4 nice trout just this morning on PowerBait (2 of them by the dam and 2 of them off the beach).
Congrats to Elijah Leon from Sparks, NV. who caught his 1ST FISH on orange PowerBait in the main camp shoreline.
