Bank fishing has been good due in part to the latest plant. Reportedly Rainbow Point has been very good along with the "Mud Hole" at the rear of the EBMUD boathouse. Saw some others working Blue Herron Point. The tried and true baits and set ups remain unchanged; anglers are using chartreuse or rainbow Power Bait (eggs or worms) with garlic and glitter. Pistol Pete's and the latest craze, Mouse (mice) Tails, in addition pink Power Worms on a water bobber have been successful lately. Blue/silver Kastmasters are also hot right after the plant; they should be hot all weekend.
Trollers continue to concentrate in upriver locations near and around Columbia Gulch and continue to land some nice German Brows, Trout and Kokanee. The fish have begun to head a little deeper at 12 to 20 feet and most boaters are sticking with night crawlers or beaded spinning lures with corn behind medium flashers or medium size dodgers in red, blue, and chrome. Some Kokanee and one large Brown caught this report. Check at the Marina for all your fishing supplies, snacks, updated fishing information and hot spots.
Bass fishermen are reporting good luck along exposed rock edges all along the shore, at the south end and around the River mouth. White spinner baits and drop shots are still the ticket.
Water level has stayed just about the same as last report and is now about 12-15 feet below the spillway and constant, water temperatures still in the upper 40's low 50's at the Marina this morning. Water clarity is good to about 15' plus in the Marina.
Recent success stories: Quinn age 7 from Santa Cruz got this 4 lb. cat fish way upriver at the log jam with a double load of white power eggs (no photo). Make sure you stop by the Marina to weigh and photograph your catches so we can share them with the publications that carry our report!
Pardee Lake Recreation planted another 2,000 Wednesday this week which brings the total to 15,000 lbs. of Rainbow Trout.
The California Department of Fish and Game has also planted 2,000 lbs. of Trout to date for a grand total of 17,000 lbs.
