LAKE CONDITIONS: Lake Camanche's current elevation is 208.8 feet above sea level, a drop of 1 foot this week. The lake will drop slowly this week.??There is currently no water flowing into Lake Camanche and water is flowing out of Lake Camanche at 352 c.f.s. The surface water temperature at the marina has warmed up to 79 degrees. The Sechi reading for water clarity down to 20 feet.
TROUT: There was only one report from trollers this week, but they did pretty well early on Wednesday morning. They were using Needlefish in Fire Tiger, and Vance's Slim Fin's in Cop Car, and also red/gold. They were fishing from 35-50 feet deep, and caught fish along the front of the buoys at the dam, and also from Hat Island to Little Hat Island. They had a nice limit of rainbows, with the big fish at 4 pounds, with a couple of others at 2 ?? pounds.
Local fisherwoman The Amador Dangler, and her best fishing buddy, caught 2 limits of trout near the dam on Thursday night. She was anchored in 45 feet of water, and they caught all of their fish on Power Eggs. They caught 4 fish in the evening, 3 fish overnight, and 3 more the next morning. Their big fish was 3 ?? pounds, with several at 2 ?? pounds also.
Day fishermen at Dike 3 continue to catch trout, especially early or late in the day. Anchor in 40-50 feet of water, and drop Power Bait, Troutkrilla, or Power Eggs right off the bottom. The bite can be sporadic, but stay patient, and usually a number of trout can be caught there.
BASS: We would like to thank the anglers who came to help us plant bass fingerlings last Wednesday, although the bass plant had to be postponed because of truck problems on the planting truck. While they were waiting to help us plant the fish Norbert Gee, Stevy Lee, and his daughters Samantha (8 years old), and Michelle (18 years old) decided to fish while waiting for the truck. Samantha caught her first fish ever, a nice largemouth bass, and Michelle caught 3 more bass that morning. They were using top water baits early in the morning, and live crawdads during the day. Thanks again to all that tried to help us out with the bass plant.
We will be re-scheduling the bass plant as soon as the hatchery lets us know when they will be able to come back with the fish. At that time any volunteers with boats will be given free access to the lake for that day of the plant, as well as another pass to be able to come back to Camanche on another day. More info to follow. Please contact Eldon at North Shore Marina if you would like to help. 209-763-5166.
Tony Miranda, from Galt, had a pretty good day bass fishing on Saturday. He was fishing in the Narrows with white spinnerbaits/gold blades, and caught a 7 pound bass, a 4 pounder, and a 3 pounder. He said all his fish came in less than 15 feet of water.
CATFISH: Camanche regulars, and houseboaters, Lisa Allen, Natalya Polakova, and Gulnara Moldonado, had a pretty fun night on Friday night. They caught 8 fine, fighting catfish, with Gulnara catching the big fish at 4-5 pounds. They were using blood bait, and caught catfish from 10:30 p.m. to 4 a.m. They also caught one carp, and Lisa caught a nice trout the next day while fishing near the dam. Way to go girls!
Thanks again for choosing Lake Camanche for your recreation destination.
