LAKE CONDITIONS: Lake Camanche's current elevation is 210.8 feet above sea level, a drop of 1 foot this week. The lake will drop slowly this week.??There is currently no water flowing into Lake Camanche and water is flowing out of Lake Camanche at 355 c.f.s. The surface water temperature at the marina has warmed up to 77 degrees. The Sechi reading for water clarity down to 20 feet.
TROUT: Trout trollers continue to catch fish this week, especially those getting on the water early or late in the day. One group of anglers from Lodi reported catching 2 limits of trout along with 2 nice Kokanee. They were trolling about 50 feet deep, above the river channel, near the dam. They were using Uncle Larry's spinners in pink, tipped with a piece of white shoepeg corn, dipped in Pro Cure garlic scent. The trout went up to 4 pounds, and the Kokanee were about 1 ?? pounds.
Ryan Long and his son Michael, from Acampo, and 3 other friends reported that the overnight trout fishing at Dike 3 continues to be red hot. They anchored in about 45 feet of water, and caught 5 limits of trout, up to 4 pounds. They were using Power Bait, Power Eggs, and nightcrawlers. They said the fishing was slow until about midnight, and then the action was fast and furious from then on.
Young Dylan Gorman, from Palo Alto, caught a beautiful 3 pound trout while fishing with his family upriver. He was drifting a nightcrawler about 25 feet deep when he hooked the fine trout. Camanche regular Bruce Jennings from Daly City was fishing with one of the marina staff upriver, when he hooked into a 6 ?? pound fighting rainbow trout. The big trout jumped out of the water trying to spit the hook, then fought Bruce for 10 minutes more before he landed the fish. He was drifting a nightcrawler along the bottom, about 25 feet deep.
BASS: Bass fishing continues to be very good for anglers this week. Bobby Applemun and Don Sloan, from Sacramento, reported catching 7 fine bass up to 3 ?? pounds. They were fishing in the main lake, on rocky points of the shoreline and the islands. Bass were caught on Baby Brush Hogs in watermelon color, and all fish were caught in less than 15 feet of water.
A group of anglers from Redding reported catching bass upriver. They caught 2 smallmouth bass, 4 spotted bass, and 4 largemouth bass. The big fish was 3 ?? pounds, and they were fishing in the Narrows, China Gulch, Oregon Gulch, and around Arkansas Bend. They were using Baby Brush Hogs in green pumpkin, Senko worms in cinnamon, and Senkos in natural shad color.
CATFISH:Bobby Applemun and Don Sloan, who caught a bunch of bass on Saturday, also caught a bunch of catfish that day. They had 7 catfish, up to 5 pounds, and were fishing in the main lake on rocky points. Chicken liver was the bait that worked for them, and fish were caught in 15 feet of water or less.
