The San Pablo Reservoir trout bite is still on fire!
San Pablo Reservoir - El Sobrante, CA (Contra Costa County)
by San Pablo Reservoir
2-25-2013
Lake Hours: 6:30 AM to 5:00 PM
Boats must be off the Water: 4:00 PM
Boat Launch Area is Open: 7 days a week with snacks and drinks available
Last Plant: 1,080 lbs. of catchable trout and 120 lbs. of Trophy Trout from Mt. Lassen on February 22nd
Water Temperature: Around 51 degrees
The trout bite at San Pablo Reservoir has been excellent. The hot spots have been from the shoreline near the Main Recreation area and across the other side at Sandy Point and Scow Canyon and also from the shoreline at the boat launch area. The trout seem to be biting best on PowerBait such as Chartreuse and Spring Green or inflated nightcrawlers. If you like to throw lures or like trolling, Mice Tails, Broken-Back Fire-Tiger Rapalas and Kastmasters have all been working.
Above Photo: Jordan Wong of Hayward caught this 3.5 lb. using Mice Tails at the Main Recreation area (2/22/2013).
Photo #1: Steve Babich of El Sobrante caught this pair of Spotted Bass, the largest weighing 4.75 lbs. using plastic worms (2/21/2013).
