Kokanee Power Team Kokanee Derby this Saturday July 21, 2012. For information and entry forms see their website www.KokaneePower.org

The water level remains same as last report and is currently 3 feet below spill. Visibility remains good, presently good to 15 feet plus at the Marina. Water temperatures remain the same and are currently 68 degrees at the 20 foot mark and the same at surface.

Trollers pre fishing for the Derby have been successful upstream. Lots of boats are working around Twin Coves, Deer Island and Columbia Gulch yesterday and today. The Kokanee have gone deeper lately to find the cooler water temperatures, try 75 to 100 feet. Trout fishing has also been better upstream but not quite as deep. Some continue to do well with Thomas spoons (red and rainbow) behind a dodger or not at 25 to 35 feet. Kokanee aren't congregating but have moved into the River Arm. Hot lures for Kokanee are still Uncle Larry's glow pink fire tiger, copper popsicles and desert fire lures, all tipped with corn behind a medium silver/blue or watermelon Sep's or Lance's dodger.

The Bass continue to hang around the coves and rocky points throughout the Lake during the week. Not as many bass reports this week but baits are the same, Anglers are most successful using hot shot and swim baits.

Recent success stories: Robert Young, pictured above of Vallejo and His sidekick Russ of Citrus Heights got this nice stringer of cats (17.71 lbs.) in the Mud Hole using night crawlers. Congratulations-well done!

Bank fishermen were scarce in the Recreation Area this afternoon. Saw a couple of devoted anglers behind the EBMUD boathouse. The recent heat has kept lots of folks away. Garlic flavored Power bait and eggs in yellow and chartreuse remain the most successful bait along with the Pistol Pete fly at the end of a 4ft leader behind a water bobber.

Pardee Lake Recreation has planted a total of 29,000 lbs. of Rainbow Trout in combination with the Department of Fish and Game plants of 5,000 for a grand total of 34,000 lbs.
