This weeks outings proved to be very productive for both. First thing in the morning we targeted King Salmon. The Chinooks were deep 80 to 100 feet. Most weighed 2 1/2 to 4 lbs. However, we did hook 3 larger fish in the 5 lbs. class that gave my clients a little more than they could handle.
We found most of our Kings lurking around the house boat in Temperance Bay and the spillway area. We rolled shad injected with Pro Cure scent. My clients elected to release the Kings and hold out for the Kokanee. From mid morning on we focused solely on Kokanee. The red hot Koks are averaging 14 to 16 1/2 inches with wide shoulders. Vance's nickel dodger and Uncle Larry's exciting new UV colors sealed the deal. Pro Cures bloody tuna and fresh water shrimp were our two corn scents. The feisty Salmon are holding on structure 40 to 60 feet deep in the main lake area. Lake surface temperatures 77 degrees.

The Stripe bite remains strong at New Hogan despite the full moon
New Hogan ReservoirDespite this weeks full moon the striper bite remains good! Although the first hour, and mid day was best bite times we needed plenty of patience in the hours in between. The temperamental bass gave us numerous short bites while we waited for the bite to turn on. Anchovies, herring and shad scented with Pro Cure was our bait of choice. The 3 to 5 lbs. line sides our holding in the 15 to 25...... Read More
