What a great week of fishing with the cooler temperatures, the trout came up again and bank fishermen had no problem catching their limits. One boater in particular (Les Nason) gave us some very useful information on how he and his crew (Bev & Pat) would catch a limit or two everyday. They were trolling with a "threaded nightcrawler" up the line and a chunk of Powerbait on the hook. He said they were not using flashers, instead they used a sling blade which is similar to a dodger, only shaped differently (more like a teardrop, then an oval). Two of them used lead core line and let out three colors which kept them about 100 ft. behind the boat and he used a downrigger and set the depth @ 20? down and all of them were catching fish.
Julian Castro and his Dad hooked a stringer of 10 trout fishing from their boat on the east side trolling worms. Ricardo Gomez of Oroville also fished a cove on the east bank but he was using orange Powerbait. Max McDaniel, photo # 2 trolled with pink Hoochies in the middle of the lake and limited out on Rainbows. Jaysun & Keanu of S.F. caught their 1st Collins Lake trout from shore on a garlic plastic worm!
Little Anthony, photo #1 caught his 1st Fish Ever, a beautiful 1 lb. 4 oz. Bluegill and he used worms!! Great Job Anthony!!!!! Ron & Taylor of Pacifica caught a couple of nice trout on worms by the dam from the shore. Kayakers, Chris & Henry and Melissa & Alan hooked a limit of bows by the bridge on chartreuse Powerbait and their biggest was a 2 pounder.Chris & Gary, Photo #3 of Sutter came back for some more of those fantastic Crappie, this time they got 12 Crappie and 3 Bass using Crappie jigs and fishing Elmer's Cove from their boat. Everhard & Mad Man, photo # 5 from Browns Valley hooked 10 trout trolling Needlefish lures with powerbait on the hook of the lure.
Alyssa Leash limited out on trout by the dam using worms from shore. Katie & Connor & Big Daddy caught 5 trout by the bridge trolling worms and dodgers. Austin & Ryan, photo # 4 fished right from the sand beach and hooked 6 nice trout. The Henderson kids from Roseville caught a trout 6 pack on Powerbait by the bridge.
The Zaski guys (Dave & Mark), photos # 6 & 7 brought their "good luck charm, name Katie" and as always they caught fish galore. Derrick Biaggi and grandpa Craig Miller caught a trout near the marina on a worm. Gus Grimmett, photo # 8 of Citrus Heights caught one of the biggest trout this week, a 2 lb. 6 oz. Rainbow on a small orange Rapala by the buoys going towards the bridge. Ellie Burke, photo # 9 lands the biggest fish this week, a *5 lb. Catfish* caught by the dam on a nightcrawler. The Vue families sacked a couple of trout limits again this week using Powerbait off the beach. Powerbait also worked well for Chloe, Celia, and Brianna from Olivehurst.
