Trolling at Shaver Lake slowed this past week with limits possible, but you have to work at it to get them. Guide Dick Nichols of Dick's Fishing Charters reported that his clients had caught some limits for each angler on board but as the week progressed, limits were hard to get. He also said that fewer big trout were caught by most trollers. The big fish are being caught still fishing with Power Bait , crawler or Gulp! from a boat. Black Rock, Eagle Point and the island were the best locations for trollers, while Black Rock and near Tunnel Creek provided the best locations for still fishermen. Les Normart and his friend Kirk Lyman picked up a nice stringer of fish from 2 1/2 to 9 pounds and 12 ounces, still fishing with crawlers near Black Rock. Normart and Lyman, released all of their fish. Mike O'Connell , from Tollhouse, caught a monster 12 pound 3 ounce bow still fishing in Tunnel Creek. O'Connell was using a crawler for bait.

Bank fishermen are still connecting at road's 1 and 2 and the road 2 point. They are using the same bait as the still fishermen. KMJ radio talk show host Ray Appleton fished with Rocky Pimentel, of the Wahotoke Bar and Grille Thursday and caught a 7 pound rainbow still fishing with a crawler near Eagle point.

The weather played havoc for the 1st two day's of the Memorial weekend with some thunder storms and wind. The air temperature was a high of 40 on Friday and slightly better on Saturday. The water temperature has raised to 63 to 64 degrees. The lake is at 71% capacity
