Thanks to Project Kokanee, all the Volunteers, the Management and Staff of Pardee Lake and all the participants for a great derby last week. Lots nice fish caught great prizes, good food and fun for all. For details of prize winners see the Project Kokanee website at www.ciffi.org
The water level is once again at spill and holding. EBMUD continues to generate and release water to fill Camanche Reservoir. Visibility is excellent presently good to 20 feet at the Marina. Water temperatures have remained constant since last report and are currently 56 degrees at the 20 foot mark and 60 at surface.
Quiet on the Lake this afternoon, many headed upstream towards Deer Island and beyond. Reports suggest that some have been working the area between the South End barrel line and the Dam in front of the spillway for Trout and Kokanee alike. There were also some favorable reports about the upriver areas last week as well. The Trout and Kokanee have gone a little deeper lately and are spaced out in the 10 to 45 foot strata. Hot lures are still Uncle Larry's glow pink fire tiger, copper popsicles and desert fire lures, tipped with corn behind a medium silver/blue or watermelon Sep's dodger have all been very successful combos for Kokanee.
The Marina reports bank fishermen have been doing very well since the recent plant. No word on the Woodpile this report but it's worth a try.
Rainbow Point the shore behind the EBMUD boathouse the launch ramp and Porcupine Point were the most populated. Garlic flavored Power bait and eggs in yellow and chartreuse remain the most successful bait along with the Pistol Pete fly at the end of a 4ft leader behind a water bobber.
Recent success stories: Jeff, pictured above got this 6 lb 6oz Bass last week using senko. The location and Jeff's last name along with where he resides are "need to know" only. Congratulations Jeff-well done!
Pardee Lake Recreation has planted a total of 23,000 lbs. of Rainbow Trout in combination with the Department of Fish and Game plants of 5,000 for a grand total of 28,000 lbs., look for another plant in the near future
