Sacramento River - CA

Salmon anglers on the Sacramento River are finding a little improvement, according to Garret Sinclair at the Tackle Box in Chico. "We are hearing about more scores of one and two salmon per boat, so it looks like more fish are moving up", noted Sinclair. "The fish are averaging around 20 pounds, and are nice and bright. Best lure continues to be a silver/chartreuse K15 Luhr Jensen Kwikfish.
"There are salmon in several areas up and down the river. The count at Red Bluff today [Thursday] was 96 salmon, which is a big increase from earlier in the week."
Sinclair added, "There are still stripers being caught down around Butte City. Keeper size fish are hitting on cut baits like sardine or anchovies, with the best time being in the evening."
