Bass anglers are having a good time at Lake Oroville, according to Fil Torres at Oroville Outdoors. "Bass fishing is still really good", said Torres. "We are still hearing about folks going out and releasing 30 or 40 bass per day. There are a lot of fish above the slot, including some largemouth down in the South Fork. It took a 21-incher to win last week's turkey shoot, and an 18-incher to win this week.
"Plastics are the top choice right now, with shad colors predominating. Fish from the bank down to about 30 feet, right around the brush line. The fish are definitely moving up into the arms around waterfalls. There is also a topwater bite and a night bite starting to get going about an hour after dark."
"Coho salmon anglers are trolling at around 30 feet in the North Fork and Middle Fork, along with the main body. Bank anglers can catch them near the dam with flashy lures like Kastmasters. Most of the cohos are running 12 to 15 inches."
Torres cautioned, "There is a lot of floating debris, so pay careful attention."
