The Lake level is constant at 2 feet below spill, ebmud continues to generate so Lake Level may drop about 6 inches a day. Current water temperatures are presently 69 degrees at 20 feet and 74 at surface; look for these temps to continue throughout the weekend. Water clarity is good to 16 feet. Not a single fisherman visible in the Recreation area this morning. Most bank anglers were concentrated around Rainbow Point earlier in the week. The Marina reports they are catching some good size Rainbow planters using white power worms. Sounds like the planters are moving out of the Rec area soon after the plant due to the warm water conditions, so try behind the Ebay boathouse, the 'mud hole lagoon', Porcupine point, the Launch ramp and TomSawyerIsland if Rainbow Point is too congested. Heard some good trout were taken at the Woodpile last week. Power worms and green power bait are also effective, with wooly boogers and silver/blue Kastmasters good right after the plant.
Good earlier this but the boats are having to work harder at it this morning. Lots of Trollers are working the River Mouth and the face of the Dam. Kokanee limits are quick and mostly in the 8 to 12" range. Other Trollers are fishing the River starting at the Mouth and going up as far as Indian Rock. Try the River arm and near Twin Coves for Kokes. Fish are holding at 30 to 50 feet . Most are using small spoons or needlefish type lures in pink or florescent orange/red tipped with a night crawler, grub or power worm behind small flashers, dodgers or sidekicks in silver/green that all seem to work well. Lots of catfish in the 5 to 15 lb range taken from southern coves lately. Chicken liver, anchovies and night crawlers are their favorite snacks. California Department of Fish and Game has planted 3000 lbs of fish in addition Pardee Lake Inc has planted 46,000 lbs of trout as of today with more plants scheduled.
