The Lake level is stable this week and looks to be holding at two feet below spill. Current water temperatures are up a little from last report, 61 degrees at 20 feet and 68 at surface look for these temps to warm a bit with the predicted temperatures for next week. Water clarity is good to 16 feet.
Most bank anglers are concentrated around Rainbow Point this morning. The Marina reports they are catching some good size Rainbow planters using white power worms. Sounds like the planters are holding longer in the Recreation Area so try behind the ebay boathouse, the "mud hole lagoon", Porcupine point, the Launch ramp and Tom Sawyer Island if Rainbow Point is to congested. Power worms and green power bait are also effective, with wooly boogers and silver/blue Kastmasters good right after the plant.
Not too many boats visible on the Lake this morning, they must have headed directly upstream to beat the heat and hit the areas that have been the most productive lately. Some Trollers are fishing the River starting at the Mouth and going up as far as Indian Rock. Try the River arm and near Twin Coves for Kokes. Most Kokanee are in the 10 to 12 inch size, they are plentiful and quick to bite; they remain 40 to 50 feet deep. Small spoon or needlefish type lures in pink or florescent orange/red tipped with a night crawler, grub or power worm behind small flashers, dodgers or sidekicks in silver/green work well. Kokanee still prefer scented white corn. Did see a few boaters working the barrel line in the South end but don't know how they were doing.
This weather is great for cat fishing in the coves at the southernmost end of the Lake. Chicken liver, anchovies and night crawlers are their favorite snacks. California Department of Fish and Game has planted 3000 lbs of fish in addition Pardee Lake Inc has planted 40,000 lbs of trout as of today with more plants scheduled.
