King salmon played hard to get this week. Clients are not experiencing large numbers of Kings like they had in the past few weeks. Despite tuff salmon fishing, we still managed to catch Chinooks over 4 pounds. However, Rainbow trout action is very good with limits reasonably easy to catch. A few Kokanee are showing up in the 16 to 17 inch class. King salmon are down 80 to 100 feet deep, trout and Kokanee are holding 25 to 35 feet deep all in the main lake area between McClure point and the dam. A variety of lures such as Sock Eye Slammers, Slim Fins, Ex-Cells, Crystal Basin and Uncle Larry's lures has been responsible for mixed bags of Kokanee, Rainbow and Kings.

Bob Moore, and friend Larry Snifferman of Oakdale wanted to target big Kings. The dual boated several fish, choosing to keep 4 Chinooks 3.9 to 4.5 pounds. Bob Moore was the big fish winner for the day with a gorgeous 4.5 pound king salmon. Lake McClure continues to rise with small islands going under water every day. Lake temperature is 72 degrees.
