Steady trout plants in the Upper Kern from CDFW over the last 4 weeks have helped the action here. The water temps have dropped making the fish sluggish, but as the water temps warm in afternoon the bite improves. Anglers are scoring fish with salmon eggs, crickets, spinners, and pinched crawlers. Fly anglers have had solid action with nymphs and dry/dropper above Fairview. The Upper Kern River is scheduled to be stocked next week in Section 4, Powerhouse #3 to Riverside Park in Kernville. The Lower Kern Largemouth and smallmouth bass bite is fair to good with soft plastics and small crankbaits. At the time of reporting the Upper Kern River was flowing at 375 CFS and the Lower Kern River was flowing at 413 CFS.
