The river flows have kicked up a bit with the recent rain. Fishing in the Upper Kern has been great for some and slower for others. Fly anglers have been scoring fish with caddis in the afternoon. In the 20 mile stretch anglers have had success with salmon eggs, crickets and worms. The fish are a little sluggish since the water temps have cooled considerably. The Upper Kern was stocked this week in Section 4, Powerhouse #3 to Riverside Park in Kernville. The Lower Kern bass bite remains steady on crankbaits, jigs and spinners. Catfish can be found on dip baits, nightcrawlers and cut baits. At the time of reporting, the Upper Kern River was flowing at 1072 CFS and the Lower Kern River was flowing at 411 CFS.
